Mara mentor

Register on Mara Mentor from your web or mobile browser.
Smartphone users can download the Mara Mentor App (Google Play and iTunes) to their phones.

Anyone who signs up on Mara Mentor is assigned the "Entrepreneur" status by default. All you need to do is click on the drop down menu and select "Mentor" and enter the information. Once done, the application is sent to our Mentor team for review. When approved, we will automatically update your status to Mentor.

Ordinarily, yes. However, with relevant experience / expertise we do waive this - each Mentor application is assessed on its own merits dependant on various criteria.  We do recommend adding as much information to your profile related to your experience and skills.

You can engage with our community by regularly posting your business insights, interesting articles or responding to the various start up and business queries raised in our Discussion Forum section. You can also join us on our regular Twitter chats on @Mara_Mentor and voice your opinion on various issues around business. In We can also promote your content/event please click Contact us

Follow the mentor you wish to connect with and write your questions on the Mentors wall.

You can search by name, industry or country, select a Mentor based on the skills and expertise that would be most useful to you.  You are able to connect to more than one Mentor.

Once you've registered on the platform, you're able to access the Training & Tools section on the platform.  There is a free course, inspirational content, tool kits and a personal development series.

You've never had a Mentor before? Here are some helpful do's and don'ts:


  • Take time to identify your goals
  • Be considerate of your mentors’ time
  • Return phone calls and e-mails promptly and be on time
  • Listen attentively to what your mentors have to say, store what seems irrelevant for future use
  • Be complete yet succinct in your comments and explanations
  • Seriously consider all advice you receive
  • Show evidence you’ve utilised your mentors’ help in making decisions
  • Show appreciation for every form of assistance your mentor gives you (Say thanks, praise them in front of others, send a note, etc.)
  • Make it easy for your mentor to give you corrective feedback, ask for it early
  • Assume the relationship will be strictly professional
  • Be prepared to move out of the relationship at the end of the program
  • Keep the door open to return later for advice or other help
  • Keep in touch once you part company. Send a note or call from time to time to provide progress reports and say thanks



  • Depend on your mentors to identify your goals for you
  • Assume your mentors have unlimited time for you
  • Tune out when the topic seems irrelevant to your immediate needs
  • Say “Yes, but…”
  • Forget to share the outcome of the help your mentor provided
  • Take your mentor for granted or assume they don’t need reinforcement
  • Immediately defend or explain yourself, or worse, criticise your mentor
  • Intrude into your mentors’ personal life or expect to be close friends
  • Hang on to your mentor indefinitely
  • Leave on bad terms
  • Move on without checking back with past mentor


Entrepreneurs can earn Badges based on their engagement on the platform

Login frequency 

  • User can earn badges based on the number of days you continuously login to the platform. 
    • 7 Days
    • 15 Days
    • 30 Days
  • Badge name represent the number of days user continuously logged in to the platform.
  • User can earn these badges for multiple logins 


  • User can earn the following Badges based on numbers Mentors, Entrepreneurs and Organisations he/she follows
    • 100 Friends
    • 1,000 Friends
    • 5,000 Friends
    • 10,000 Friends
    • 25,000 Friends
    • 50,000 Friends
    • 100,000 Friends

Along with badges, you will also continue earning points associated with various activities on the platform.

Mentors and Organisations will not earn any badges


Based on engagement on the platform you will earn points, increased engagement will increase the points earned.  

As points increase you will move up the Tier, please find below a table illustrating e various Tier bands.
